Wishing that I could capture these undulating
rolls of pink petals - old-fashioned roses-
rounded, curving under -Belle Epoque femininity-
Perfect pale pinkness-
The softness and delicatesse -so ladylike and refined-
with the sensual passion rumbling deeply
under the deceptive exterior.
Come surround me and I will surround you-
the tender siren calls and begs for you to bite into a petal.
Begin to consume this essence that you desire.

Pink roses in May
Glass vase with wide ruffled edges
clusters the pink roses in the scoops -
the wide open craters of nestled petals
curve their petally feminine heads -
overlapping swirls of pastel layers
soft, round throats - almost emitting
a joyous, bright sound trumpeting
Hark--listen--lay--rest--pink.

Jonquils on red
This bouquet was a present to my mother from a sweet friend in Augusta. I painted it in the true impressionistic style as it turned out--quick, loose strokes--letting the water and the pigments swirl around and create the flowers. A spontaneous remembrance from a dear friend to my dear mother. Although each variety of the jonquils is hard to distinguish in the watercolor, my friend explained that the several old fashioned varieties were dug up from abandoned gardens-horticultural salvage, should we say.
