La Silla Observatory in Chile vis a vis Pink Floyd and The Division Bell

This was inspired from an image on the inside of the Division Bell CD cover with due credit to the European Southern Observatory for this image and their words. "The La Silla Observatory is located at the outskirts of the Chilean Atacama Desert, 600 km north of Santiago de Chile and at an altitude of 2400 metres. Like other observatories in this geographical area, La Silla is located far from sources of light pollution and, like the Paranal Observatory, home to the Very Large Telescope, it has one of the darkest night skies on the Earth. La Silla has been an ESO stronghold since the 1960s. Here, ESO operates some of the most productive 4-metre class telescopes in the world." Today is the 18th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's The Division Bell.

Saint Mark is the patron saint of Venice which was founded on March 25th, 421, the day of the Annunciation of the birth of Christ. It is a city born in the sea, a Christian Venus born after the fall of Roman Empire. This particular church is Santa Maria della Salute. Ahhhh!! Due credit to Time To Us blogger-many thanks!

Owens-Thomas Balcony

The Revolutionary war hero Marquis de Lafayette spoke from this lovely cast-iron balcony at the Owens-Thomas House in Savannah in 1825. This house was designed by the Englishman William Jay. It is such a delicate lacy structure on the south side of the house.

Blessings to the white virgin flowers-
a serene lady with purest colors and form-
White upon green-
Rounded upon pointed
with parallel prickles-
Keep that soft touch
Keep that innocence at any age
Keep thyself pure

Savannah watercolors

This is a recent work I painted on Isle Of Hope, Savannah, Ga. The neighborhood is located on a bluff and many of the houses are beautiful and surrounded by these picket fences. There is a serene, cozy atmosphere of well-loved homes, old oaks with Spanish Moss, and little dirt road lanes interspersed with modern paved roads.
