Sometimes, I have an inspiration that is spurred on by a few thoughts to write and paint. Simple thoughts can spur on simple paintings. 

Sometimes - life is simple-

Peach carnations on the turquoise linen cloth on the kitchen table

A bank of bamboo in the distance

A field of yellow poppies in the dip of the highway median

A slow cluster of water on the teal marble tabletop in the garden

And a single cardinal comes to rest on the nearby chair

C'est...September in the mountains

Leaving Savannah in late September and it still felt like summer. Destination: Waynesville, North Carolina. Western North Carolina. We had a perfect cabin to stay in and the weather was just right. One of the lovely by-products of this week of freedom was the opportunity to paint some watercolors. Flowers always hold my attention and a few other subjects-- landscapes, garden scenes. Here are a few views from different spots we visited.

On the fifth day of Christmas, I finished knitting my wool "Seafarer's Watch Cap". The instructions come, thankfully, from the Seamen's Church Institute- Christmas at Sea project. seamenschurch.org. This project is intended for knitters to knit hats, scarves etc. and then send them to sailors around the world. For any interested knitters, I used Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash wool-color-'Colonial' from the shop 'Unwind" on Waters Avenue here in Savannah. The ladies there are welcoming and helpful always.
